The documentary delves into India’s most infamous serial killings and its impact on a nation. Told through the people directly involved, the film unravels the complexities of the case and goes beyond the sensational headlines to present a suspenseful and scary mystery. And has a huge twist – one of the killers maybe innocent?
Synopsis: Over a span of two years, dozens of children went missing on a 100-meter stretch of road in an inconspicuous neighborhood. In a plain ordinary house in the suburbs where unknown to everyone, unimaginable acts of violence and gruesome murders were taking place. This nightmare gripped dozens of poor families in an inconspicuous suburb of New Delhi, India when their children went missing and began their long ordeal to capture and bring to trial the killers living in their own neighborhood.
When eventually the small town beat cop breaks the case, both culprits were sentenced to death under sensational media coverage and pressure from the government to instill swift justice, addressing a large social and cultural changes happening in India.
The gruesomeness of the case are told through all of the players involved in the case: police investigators, the families relentlessly searches for their daughters, criminal prosecutors from both sides, the press that nearly brought down the Indian government, Pandheer’s son and the killers. “The Karma Killings” unravels the complexities of the case and goes beyond the sensational headlines to present a suspenseful and scary mystery involving a complex relationship between a master, businessman Moninder Singh Pandher and his servant, Surender Koli.

RAM DEVINENI (Director, Producer & Editor) is a filmmaker, publisher and founder of Rattapallax films and magazine. He produced, edited and directed the feature documentary THE HUMAN TOWER, which was shot in India, Chile, and Spain. Recently, he produced THE RUSSIAN WOODPECKER which won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. He is the co-creator of the augmented reality comic book series, PRIYA'S SHAKTI, which received the 2014 Tribeca Film Institute New Media Fund from the Ford Foundation and funded by the World Bank. MARTINA SÖNKSEN (Co-producer) is a documentary producer. Before “The Karma Killings”, along with Ram she co-produced the short film “The Pigeon Kings of Brooklyn”. In 2014 she worked as a field producer for the Brazilian feature documentary “O Começo da Vida” ("The Beginning of Life") to be released in 2016. And as a Translator she contributed for VICE in projects such as VICE on HBO: Pacification of Rio, VICE NEWS: Brazil’s World Cup Coverage and Gaycation on VICELAND.
RENE VERON (composer and sound designer) is a composer, producer, song writer, and music publisher. He has produced/co-produced the music for several documentaries including the THE HUMAN TOWER. Rene also works as a voice over actor.
